Our Little World Traveler
Ryan enjoying his first trip in First Class. There were a bunch of open seats in First Class on our flight from Cancun to Houston, so they put us up there. I guess they don't typically do that when you have a "lap child", but we lucked out! Luckily, Ryan slept almost the whole flight.
Ryan decided he wanted a bite of my cookie, even though it was as big as his head. I guess he is his mommy's baby...

Reading on our flight from Houston to Newark. The flight attendants all loved him on this flight. He didn't sleep at all, but he did smile and flirt a lot. This was his 3rd airplane trip (8th actual plane flight) and he did great as usual. Continental has lots of catchy sayings on billboards and napkins on their flights. The one I like is "Getting that worldly look, one country at a time". I think that applies to Ryan. We were going to try to go to Canada sometime in the next few weeks so that he could say that he had been to all 3 North American countries plus the Bahamas before he was 1, but I don't think we are going to make it. Of course, you never know....

Cancun - Marriott Casamagna hotel
I was surprised at how narrow the beach was in Cancun. It was also very rocky. There were not many places that you could get into the ocean without stepping on big rocks. I don't know if it has always been this way, or if Hurricane Wilma took away a bunch of the sand. Anyone know?
Matt had about 10 days off in a row last week so we decided to go to Cancun. Ryan and Matt both flew for free and it cost about $62 for me. The hotel room, which would normally be about $260 (gorgeous hotel!) was only about $87/night, so we really just had to go! Anyway, we had a great trip although again the weather didn't cooperate for us and it rained a decent chunk of the time we were there. We got there about noon on Monday and left about noon on Wednesday. Ryan still doesn't really like the ocean but he absolutely LOVES the pool. (We started a water babies class a couple of weeks ago which he loves too.) We mainly just hung out at the hotel, but we did go to see Mayan ruins in Tulum, about an hour and a half drive south of Cancun. They were very cool.
Matt and I were trying to decide whether we would go back to the Bahamas or Cancun if we had to decide between the two and we couldn't really decide. They both had good things about them. But there are some other things I want to do near Cancun, so I guess I would opt for there. But, I think I would rather try someplace new before going back there. Does anyone have any suggestions of places in Mexico or the Carribean that they really loved?
The Yuck
Ryan had his first stomach bug yesterday - not fun! My mom and I (of course Matt is out of town) learned that the worst thing about an 11 month old with a stomach bug is that they can't warn you when they are about to throw up. We would be holding Ryan and then all of a sudden he (and usually we) were covered in throw up. I lost count of how many times we changed Ryan's outfit, but I know I changed mine at least 3 times, my mom changed twice and we had to wash Ryan's sheets twice. Unfortunately, I had the yuck too, so thank heavens my mom was here to help me with Ryan! He is the craziest kid too, because other than the fact that he was throwing up all the time, he seemed totally fine... not lethargic or anything. He didn't throw up at all today, so I am keeping my fingers crossed that it is over. One of my friend's baby had a relapse though, so I am only being cautiously optimistic.
I will go try to upload some more pictures from Mexico now...
