We spent the morning wandering around the zoo wandering around the zoo with some friends today. The weather was absolutely gorgeous (probably around 70 degrees) and Ryan enjoyed seeing the animals. We didn't get to see everything before it was time to head home to put the kids in bed for a nap (not that Ryan took one!) so we will need to go back again soon!

Matt added the ceiling fans to the rooms - there were no fixtures before. The windows will all be replaced in a few weeks. None of these photos do the rooms justice. I have discovered it is very hard to capture colors of paint with the camera. The lighting really messes it up. Matt has done an absolutely amazing job with everything at the house so far! He has spent so much time and effort to make everything look great for all of us. I can't wait till it is done and we can move in.

What's New...

Ooops, over a month since my last post. Of course I don't really know if people really look at this blog anyway, but nevertheless....

So, Sarah will be 5 months old tomorrow. She started rolling a few days ago and now she is a rolling fool. She goes from back to belly and then sometimes just keeps going back onto her back. Sometimes she gets stuck on her belly though and gets mad. A couple of months ago she was sleeping from 10 pm - 8 am, but for the last couple of months she has been getting up twice a night. So, I am perpetually tired, which is just part of the game I guess. She started foods around 4 mo. She doesn't really like rice cereal, LOVES squash and sweet potatoes, doesn't particularly like carrots and HATES peas.

Ryan is talking up a storm. Kids say the darndest things. One day in Home Depot (where we go at least every other week) he pointed to a man with paint all over his clothes and said he was dirty and needed to take a shower. He still loves his Thomas trains and his cars with his garage. He loves playing outside. We got a new pool and he likes it. Still a very picky eater - wonder where he got that from ;)

Matt is ALWAYS working. If he isn't in Atlantic City working for the ANG, he is over at "Our New House" as Ryan calls it, trying to get it ready for us to move in. He is doing a great job and it is coming along, but it seems to have been a slow process and I know Matt is tired of working and ready to move in.

I will try to post some new pictures soon, but my little guy has apparently woken up from a way too short nap and is saying Mommy over and over again, so I guess I probably need to go rescue him from his crib. If you are on Facebook, check out some recent pics there in the meantime.

A friend told us about this great playground near our house so we had to go check it out. Ryan LOVED it! There are so many cool slides:) The only down side is that you can only go there on the weekend, but in the summer we will be able to go any day.

I have taken pictures of Ryan with Winnie the Pooh since he was born - every month for the first year, then every 6 months. I can't believe how much my baby boy has grown! He was 5 lbs 15 oz when he was born and now he is about 25 lbs. He is still a little guy though, wearing mostly 12-18 mo clothes still.

How is my baby 2 already???? We are having a family party on Saturday, but did a little birthday for him on his birthday yesterday. We had cupcakes and let him open 1 present. He also got to go to the doctor for his 2 year check up. He weighs almost 25 pounds now. Ryan is at such a fun age. He has so much to say (and we can even understand most of it). He knows his colors, his body parts, some of his numbers, animal sounds and so much more. He makes us laugh every day:) Of course he is 2, so he makes me want to scream some days too, but that is to be expected. He is doing fairly well adjusting to having a little sister, though he doesn't like it when I have to change her or feed her, so we have some behavioral problems during those times. We look forward to the day when they can play together, mostly anyway....

We Bought a House

So, in all of the excitement of having Sarah, we haven't gotten around to telling everyone that we bought a house! It has certainly been an eventful month for us:) We weren't really planning to buy yet, but in mid-December we drove by this house and saw it for sale and looked it up on the internet, not because it looked good but because it was near the highway for Matt to get to work and very close to my grandparents and my mom. Then we went to look at it with a realtor. We discovered that it needed LOTS of updating - very ugly carpet throughout and lots of ugly wallpaper. But we also discovered that it has 2 1/2 baths, 2 car garage, air conditioning and basically 4 bedrooms. These are all things we really wanted to have and hadn't been finding in our price range. So, we decided to make an offer, and came to an agreement on Christmas Eve. We closed last week and started taking wallpaper down this weekend. We won't be moving in for awhile because we want to do the work before we move in and Matt is working a lot so that is probably going to take awhile. But, we are excited:)

Sarah Ann Crill was born on December 30th, 2008 at 9:44pm. She tipped the scales at 7 lbs even, and is 20 inches long. Stephanie and Sarah are both doing well. Ryan will have to get used to the idea of sharing many things, Mommy, Daddy, his toys, and even this blog.

I can't believe it has been over a month since I have posted any pictures! Oops... Now that Matt is back from Phoenix (he demanded, I mean requested that I post pictures at least once a week when he was gone), I guess I have been a slacker. Anyway, my mom and I took Ryan to the mall to see Santa, but he wanted no part of sitting on his lap or even sitting on a stool next to him, so we didn't push it. Then yesterday, Matt and I took Ryan to see Santa arrive at the American Helicopter Museum, about 20 minutes away from here. As you can see, Ryan still wasn't thrilled with the idea of sitting on Santa's lap, but he did okay. He really enjoyed sitting in the helicopters though. I will post more pictures of that and some other stuff later.

For some reason I had a hard time finding a cute Halloween costume for Ryan this year. I thought he was so cute as a giraffe last year, I guess it was just hard to live up to that. We went to a Halloween party last Monday at the house of one of the mommies in our Moms group which was a lot of fun. For Halloween we just trick-or-treated at Grammy and Pop's house and my mom's friend Sara's house. Ryan had fun though:)

After the Phillies won the World Series last week, I had to go out and buy a t-shirt to commemorate the day (Ryan already had a Baseball Champ shirt that happened to be in Phillies colors). Ryan and I take a class at the local My Gym every Friday. We also go there for some "free play" with the Mommies Group every other week. Ryan really enjoys it and I think it is great for him to run around and play for an hour.

I am continually amazed as Ryan says more and more words. Many of them I don't understand at all, and some are just so cute when I finally figure out what they mean. For example monkey is munga and elephant is anga. Airplane is some weird thing that is totally recognizable when you hear it and mostly unspellable - airpledane or something like that. Animal is animlay. His aunt Cathy is Gaga, which I think stems from the fact that she wears glasses (ga). He just started calling my mom something (which is good because she was starting to wonder if she was ever going to get a name, though I must admit it is also bad because now he can voice his displeasure about her not being here when she leaves). He calls her Tipty or Dibdy or something like that. The other day she was teaching him how to tiptoe and shortly after that, he started calling her Tipty, so I think that is why.

Just another funny note - Ryan is VERY into Little Einsteins right now (he used to be addicted to Jack's Big Music Show on Noggin, but now it is just rocket he wants to watch). So, I have been wanting to get him one of those ride-on toys for the driveway. At Target I saw a Little Einsteins one and it seemed perfect so I got it. It came with toys of the 4 main characters in the show. One of them is June. I think he has a little crush on June. He carries around this little plastic toy (like a Little People toy) wherever he goes and if he can't find her he gets quite upset. Pretty funny how attached he has gotten to her in just two days. I am sure it is just a phase, but it is the first time there has been one particular toy that he was so enthralled with.

I can't believe how much Ryan has grown. I remember when we could lay him across the crib this way and he had plenty of room stretched out. Now he curls up and still his foot is hanging out. How do they grow so fast?!?!?!

I try to follow the rule of never waking a sleepy baby, but my mom made me get him up because it was time to go over to my grandparents house for dinner. It took him a few minutes to wake up, but then he was less cranky than I expected he would be.

I know this is Ryan's blog, but incase anyone is interested in what I am up to, I wanted to tell you about my newest project... I am taking an 8 week photography class online. It is a digital SLR class so that I can learn how to better use the amazing camera I got from my family and Matt for Christmas (a Nikon D-40). I am feeling a lot intimidated in the class as I mainly have only used the camera as a point-and-shoot camera and I think a lot of the other students actually know how to use the camera as it was intended. But, I don't get graded or anything so it is just a matter of learning as much as I can and hoping that the pictures I post for all of the class to see aren't totally bad. We had to post a few pictures for our "portfolio" at the beginnig of the class. These are some of the pictures I posted...

We went to visit Jon, Mara & Corina (Matt's brother, his wife and their daughter) a few weeks ago. They live on a creek near Baltimore and recently got a boat. So, we put the kids in their little life preservers (which neither of them was very happy about) and went out for a ride. We were only going to go out for a little bit, but then the kiddos fell asleep on their respective mom's laps, so we ended up riding into the Inner Harbor in Baltimore and back. It was a fun trip!

Well, I am a little over 19 weeks along so we had the ultrasound today. We are having a girl!!!! :) I am so excited! I will post one of the pictures from the ultrasound later, though they didn't print out any that were good of the gender, so I will just post one of the profile ones.

We had Ryan's 18 month appointment today. He did not enjoy it. And he didn't even have to get shots. But he clung to me the entire time. He even peed when Matt took his diaper off to get weighed. Multiple times, all over the floor. Silly boy. He is still in about the 5th percentile for weight and around 40th for height. So he still can't fit into 18 month clothing, but can still wear some of his 6-12 month stuff.

We went to visit our friend Jennifer and one of her sons in Indianapolis on Monday. She took us to the Children's Museum which was SO much fun! Ryan loved the preschool playscape room. He probably could have played there all day. After a couple of hours though, he and Mark were both really tired. So, we put them in the car and they fell asleep so we drove around Indy for an hour. Then we played in the hotel pool for awhile and went to Chili's for dinner. It was great to see Jennifer and we had a fun trip!

I got Ryan these bristle blocks that came in this cool green box. He was much more interested in climbing in the box than in playing with the blocks. What kind of crazy kid gets bronchitis in the middle of the summer?!?!? Mine, I guess. About a week and a half ago, Ryan had a high fever - around 103. Totally freaked me out, because he has never had a fever that high. Of course his pediatrician chose that week to be out of town and it is just her in the practice. But her office was relaying messages to her so she called me back and said that a fever doesn't worry her too much, it is the symptoms that go with it that worry her and since he didn't have any others, to call her if anything changed. So, the fever went away and 2 days later he had a rash, which she said could happen. I called again and she said that was common and that it should go away in a day or two. It did. Then 2 days later he got a seriously runny nose. I guess that was Sunday. On Thursday morning he started to sound a little raspy so I decided to call the doctor again (she was back in the office by now) because with it being a holiday weekend, I didn't want to end up needing her and the office being closed. She said to go ahead and bring him in. After his bought with bronchiolitis in December, I was envisioning nebulizer treatments in our future. So, I took him in and she checked his ears which looked great and listened to his chest, which didn't sound great. She said he had the beginning of bronchitis. Poor little guy. She gave us some antibiotics for him to take for 5 days and said that if he gets any worse this weekend to call her answering service and have them call her to meet me at the office to borrow a nebulizer. It is Friday now and his nose is still runny, but I don't think he sounded raspy, so that is good. Unfortunately we won't be able to go to my grandparents for 4th of July as planned because it doesn't seem like bronchitis would be a nice present for Ryan to give them, especially considering we all leave for the beach in a week. So, that is the latest with us. I have a scratchy throat and am congested, but hoping that it doesn't get any worse. The nausea is enough for me:)

Happy 4th of July everyone!!! Matt, as usual, is off galavanting (translation - working). He will spend the night in San Diego. Rough life.... This is the 9th 4th of July we have been married and I think we have maybe spent 4 together. He is always off somewhere - skydiving, working, TDY to Korea. Leaves me to put up with our silly little dog who is terrified of Fireworks and starts shaking like crazy and/or barking (please don't wake Ryan up tonight Sasha!) when she hears them. And of course fireworks are never just on the 4th, they are for 3 or 4 days around the 4th. Anyway, enough of my blabbing. Probably nobody has read it this far anyway - no pictures of Ryan, who cares?!?! I'll go find some cute ones to post to make up for the rambling.

It has been difficult to wait until I hit the 12 week point to share our exciting news... I am due January 7th! We are very excited!!! We should be able to find out whether it is a boy or girl (though of course all we care about is that the baby is healthy!) towards the end of August. I have discovered that being pregnant with a toddler is even harder than the first pregnancy was. I am nauseous and tired, but still get to chase Ryan around:)

Pool Party

It is about a million degrees here this weekend, with no end in sight until Wednesday. Just for those of you who don't speak "Stephanie" a million degrees equates to about 95 with 85% humidity. So, we got the pool out for Ryan to play with. He had a BLAST! We all just wished we could have fit in there with him. Our airconditioning has been sporadically going off, which is very irritating. Matt has been able to make it go back on each time, but I am not sure what we are going to do when he leaves for his trip...
